This week, the latest Jurassic World movie hit the big screens – and we’re riding the dino wave! Today we’re introducing you to a card game that combines cute dinosaurs with wicked humor: Happy Little Dinosaurs.
What is Happy Little Dinosaurs?
In this card game from Unstable Games (the makers of Unstable Unicorns and Here to Slay), you try to get your little dinosaur safely through a world full of disasters. The problem? This world is a disaster – and so are your fellow players.
Instead of using T-Rex powers or high-tech genetics, here you fight with tactics, schadenfreude and absurd disasters.

🎯 Target:
- Victory by points: Reach 50 points before everyone else.
- Or survive: Be the last dino not to be swept out of the game by three disasters.
🃏 Card types:
- Point cards (help you to survive)
- Disaster cards (represent chaos)
- Instant effect cards (bring interaction and surprise)
- Trap cards (sabotage other dinos)
Why we love the game
💔 Dinos in a quarter-life crisis
Whether your dino is hit by a meteor or suffers from emotional instability – this game will make you laugh and roll your eyes at the same time.
🎨 Design to fall in love with
The illustrations are incredibly charming, with wonderfully dark details – perfect for anyone who loves sweet and sarcastic.
👥 High replay value
With different disasters and tactics, no two rounds are the same. There are also expansions such as Disastrous Dates or Puberty Problems for even more dino drama
Our conclusion: Jurassic Park was yesterday – here comes the Dino-Downer!
Happy Little Dinosaurs is not an epic adventure with roaring dinosaurs – but a wonderfully ironic survival story with small, drawn dinosaurs who just want to get through the day.
It is ideal for:
- Fans of black humor
- All those who like tactical, fast-paced card games
- Dino fans with a penchant for self-irony
and less suitable for:
- Players who don’t like take-that mechanics (because here you sabotage for all you’re worth!)
Our dino tip:
Put the game on the table while the new Jurassic World soundtrack plays in the background – and celebrate your very own dino evening!
