This rubber-band-powered wooden train model (locomotive and tender) surprises with its compact design and can travel over 2 metres with a single winding. The elegant retro style is reminiscent of the 1930s – the last decade in which coal-powered steam locomotives were in the foreground.

The locomotive has a ratchet spanner for winding, a start/stop switch for easy operation and three paired main wheels with connecting rods that allow the train to race along at lightning speed on any flat surface. The locomotive is coupled with an open coal tender that lets you carry a favourite toy, a snack or a message to a loved one across the room!

The great thing about the Ugears models is that they can be built without glue or special tools. Everything you need to assemble them is included right in the box. Simply punch the laser-cut parts out of the composite wood panels and slot them together. The Ugears models are made from high quality composite wood and can be left in their attractive natural state or painted, stained or varnished in a colour scheme of your choice (paints not included). When assembling your mini locomotive, remember to lightly sand and wax the moving parts so that they run smoothly (wax and sandpaper included).
