The M4 Sherman medium tank was undoubtedly the most widespread and widely used armoured vehicle during the Second World War. The M4 formed the basis of the American armoured forces and was produced in numerous versions and variants. Towards the end of 1944, production of the M4A3E8 version began, which was nicknamed the “Easy Eight” and emphasised the operational efficiency of the Sherman due to the design changes made. In addition to the high-speed gun with long 76 mm M1 barrel, a new HVSS suspension system with horizontal dampers was now added to ensure improved contact with the ground, significantly improved driving conditions and higher speed. It took part in the final stages of the Second World War and played an active role in the Korean War.
