The stand model is a replica of the P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop fighter aircraft. The special features of the fighter aircraft were the fight at extreme altitude as well as extremely close to the ground.
This fighter aircraft mostly escorted the bombers. The P-47D was active on both the European and Pacific fronts. In order to overcome the insufficient visibility, the Thunderbolt models were equipped with the so-called “bubble top”, an air cushion canopy.
